Hundo vs PvP: Why a 100% IV Isn't Always Best

A 100% IV is perfect for raids — but in Great and Ultra League PvP a lower-attack roll often wins. Here's why, and how to get both.

It surprises new players: a 100% IV (hundo) is the best Pokémon for raids and gyms, but for Great League and Ultra League PvP it's often one of the worst rolls. Here's the why.

PvP has CP caps

Great League caps at 1500 CP and Ultra at 2500 CP. Under a cap, you want maximum stat product (bulk × attack) for your CP — and a high-Attack stat (which a hundo has) pushes CP up fast without adding enough bulk. So a 0/15/15 (low attack, high defense/stamina) frequently out-performs a 15/15/15 at the same league.

So which should you hunt?

  • Raids / gyms / Master League: hunt the hundo — see 100% IV coordinates.
  • Great / Ultra League PvP: hunt the specific low-attack rolls — PokeXperience's PvP channels post rank-1 Great & Ultra League coordinates so you don't have to calculate them yourself.

FAQ

Is a 100% IV bad for PvP?
Not bad, but rarely optimal under the Great/Ultra League CP caps — a lower-Attack, higher-bulk roll usually gives a better stat product. For Master League (no cap) a hundo is great.
